FOXBOROUGH — With 13 rookies on the active roster — plus seven more on the practice squad — nearly one-third of the players in the Patriots’ locker room are discovering what it’s like to be professional football players, and everything that comes with it.
Most are making the transition from playing almost every snap and being one of the best players on the field in college to fighting for playing time and hoping to even be in uniform on Sunday.
The adjustment can take time.
“I don’t know what it was like somewhere else, but my sense is that some of them, it’s a big transition. But that transition started a long, long time ago. We talk to them on a regular basis about that,” coach Bill Belichick said.
