Sept. 23, 2012: Ravens 31, Patriots 30
This Week 3 contest will be remembered most for the performance of the replacement referees, who called 24 penalties, many baffling to the players and fans alike, over the course of the game. Perhaps the most frustrating was the game's final play, a last-second field goal that was the one-point margin of victory for Baltimore. However, many observers thought the ball crossing above the uprights was close enough for a review, but that never happened.
Patriots receiver Wes Welker had a standout game with 142 receiving yards, but Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was on top of his game with three touchdown passes and 382 passing yards.
