The Brady-meter
12/2/2003
Watching Tom Brady on Sunday, we were reminded of that line in "A Tale of Two Cities": "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." In the Patriots' heart-stopping 38-34 win over Indianapolis, Brady's performance was a tale of two QBs -- unbeatable in the first half, uncatchable in the second (at least by players on his own team.) All we can say is thank goodness for the strong arms of Willie McGinest, who wrapped up Edgerrin James on fourth and goal from the 1-yard line with 14 seconds left.
GAME 12: Brady does his best Joe Montana impression in the first half, completing 16 of 18 passes for 161 yards. He looks more like Rick Mirer in the second half, throwing two INTs when he ought to be handing it off.
RATING: Greg (1st half); Marcia (2nd half)
EPISODES: In "Our Son, The Man," Greg enters high school and demands to be treated like a man. He persuades his dad to turn over his den so Greg can have a "mod pad." In "The Driver's Seat," Marcia boasts that she can beat Greg's score on the driving test. She does get a better grade on the written portion of the test but makes all kinds of mistakes when she gets behind the wheel.
