Prime time for playoffs?
12/23/2003
Ready for another Snow Bowl? That may be what the NFL and the folks at CBS are hoping, as a partial playoff schedule has the Patriots slated to play their second-round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 10, at 8 p.m., or Sunday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.
New England and Kansas City have secured the two first-round byes in the AFC, so one team will host Saturday night and the other Sunday afternoon. With the drama of their last Saturday night playoff game against the Raiders, and the fact that Boston is a bigger TV market, most are betting the prime-time game on Channel 4 will feature the Patriots.
Indianapolis, Tennessee, Denver, and either Baltimore or Cincinnati will square off on wild-card weekend Jan. 3-4. The two winners will then travel to New England or Kansas City the following week.
If the Patriots win that weekend, they will play the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 18, at 3 p.m., with the NFC Championship game slated for a 6:30 p.m. start the same day. The Super Bowl is two weeks later, Sunday, Feb. 1, in Houston.
