Brady gets new deal

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has signed a new six-year contract worth nearly $60 million that keeps the two-time Super Bowl MVP in New England through the 2010 season, The Boston Globe has learned.

The deal includes a $14.5 million signing bonus.

ESPN.com reported Brady’s base salaries would be the following:

  • 2005: $1 million

  • 2006: $4 million

  • 2007: $6 million

  • 2008: $5 million

  • 2009: $2.3 million

  • 2010: $3.5 million

The deal replaces the one Brady was currently playing under, which called for him to make $5.5 million in 2005 and $6 million in 2006. The new contract, according to ESPN.com, gives Brady a salary cap charge of $8.429 million this season.

Brady has led the Patriots to three Super Bowl victories in his four years as a starter. He has a career record of 48-14 in the regular season and 9-0 in the playoffs. He has 97 career touchdown passes compared to 52 interceptions.
