Report: Patriots caught spying

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the Patriots illegally videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets' coaches during Sunday's game, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported, citing league sources.

League spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday night that there has been no decision rendered.

NFL security officials confiscated a video camera and a tape from the New England sideline after Sunday's game. The visual evidence from that tape confirmed the suspicion that the Patriots were recording signals, according to ESPN.

The Patriots will have the opportunity to present their side of the case to the league by Friday, according to the report. Goodell is considering penalties against the Patriots, including the potential loss of multiple draft picks, Mortensen is reporting.

Goodell is expected to have a decision no later than Friday, according to the report.
