New rules for 2008
Defensive helmet radios - Teams permitted to have two defensive players with radios in their helmets, but only one on the field.
Forceout rule - Eliminated. A player must have two feet inbounds on a reception or interception.
Reviewable plays - Instant replay expanded to include field-goal and extra-point attempts, and illegal forward handoffs.
Muffed snap - It will now be a live ball. Previously called a false start.
Incidental 5-yard facemask penalty - Eliminated.
Coin toss - Teams will have the option to defer the opportunity to kick or receive the kickoff to the second half.
