FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Jon Morris has been selected to the New England Patriots' hall of fame.
Morris, a center who made the AFL's all-star game seven times, and the NFL's Pro Bowl once, played in 130 games for the Patriots from 1964-1974. He also played for the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears.
Morris was the first player to be named to the hall by the senior selection committee, a group put together to ensure that players from the team's early years receive proper consideration. To be eligible, players must be retired at least 25 years.
Morris called his selection "overwhelming." He will be inducted along with another player selected by the fans in a ceremony later this year.
