On the red carpet

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- I know what you're asking: What about the practice squad players? (OK, maybe you weren't asking, but we're going to tell you anyway.)

A TV crew has set up a red carpet behind Laurence Maroney's booth at Media Day, and with the help of model Claudia Jordan (she of Price is Right fame and a Rhode Island native), they are teaching a bunch of Pats practice squad players how to strut their stuff on the red carpet. The practice squad players seem to be getting a kick out of it.

Speaking of area celebrities, also here is Medford beauty Maria Menounos. Sporting a signed Tom Brady jersey (she got his autograph after the 2001 Super Bowl), Menounos told reporters she would be asking the quarterback about the pressure of playing for a perfect season.

Remaining true to her hometown team, Menounos scoffed when asked if she owned an Eli Manning jersey.

"No way," she said. "No offense to Eli."
