Pini & Brady

Posted by Chris Forsberg, Boston.com Staff January 31, 2008 02:47 PM

Meet Pini Swissa. He's the one who cuts Tom Brady's hair. He's even got the Super Bowl ring to prove it.

Swissa, who operates the creatively titled Salon Pini Swissa on Newbury St., is in Arizona this week to cheer on the Patriots as they tangle with the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII. He's also brought his barber shears and said he plans to give Brady a close crop Saturday evening before the big game.

In fact, Swissa says he's on call in the Grand Canyon State. He's already trimmed Brady's locks once this week and said teammates will phone him with a time and location for another Brady haircut on Saturday.

"I did Tom Brady (Tuesday), and right before the Super Bowl, it's a surprise for everybody. Saturday night, I'm gonna cut it off. Saturday night, we're gonna cut it really, really off. We've been doing it the last couple Super Bowls, and Tom Brady is the last person to be superstitious. Every Super Bowl, I cut his hair off. I hope the helmet's gonna fit after I cut his hair off."

Don't fear, Giselle. If history is any indication, Brady's head won't be shaved for the big game. Just trimmed up.

And sorry, Plaxico, your guarantee doesn't stand a chance against Pini.

"I am the good luck," said Swissa. "I am the good luck charm. And they're definitely going to do it big time this time."

Boston.com's Ann Silvio caught up with Pini outside the Olive & Ivy Restaurant & Marketplace in Scottsdale, Ariz. on Wednesday evening. Click HERE to watch the video.

  1. He "does" all the Patriots? Why does everyone famous think that only guys who speak bad English are good at cutting hair? And lastly, I somehow serious doubt that the brothas allow this crazy white man to cut their locks, ya feel me?

  1. thats what you get. coming from a steelers fan who thought the 15-1 season was ours. coming from a steelers fan whose underdog team knocked off the 15-1 colts the following season. coming from a steelers fan who watched the colts DISMANTLE new england who gave up a 3 touchdown lead. i'm not a strong supporter that the greatest teams DO NOT WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS regardless of their regular season.

You're only as good as the last 3/4 games you play if you win the superbowl, and thats it.

  1. Ummm, I don't think Bradshaw, Montana or even Aikman traveled with their respective hair dressers. Or gave him a Super Bowl ring. Extra ditto for the Manning brothers. In hindsight, that was rather embarrassing to read. Hope the national press doesn't pick up on this.

  1. I'm checking this site - this is so great!!!!!!!!!!!! & Tom was shackin' up with that model in NYC while Eli was watching game footage. What arrogance. Those sore losers couldn't even stand around and see the Giants play the last second of the game- what a bunch of punks. But it was cool to run up the score on other teams during the season - classless, I am so happy almost 100 million people watched Tom get crushed all night, sweet!!!!!!!!! GIANTS rule!!!!!!!

  1. Brady should've paid attention to the ol' adage: Hair today, loss tomorrow XD

  1. Um Tom next time why don't you just go to Supercuts. Its cheap and it doesn't make you look like such an obnoxious prick to fly your hair dresser in for the game.

  1. Tom Brady has morphed into Hollywood Brady...he has more in common with his supermodel girlfriend now than an NFL quarterback. What a complete tool.

  1. Maybe Brady rubs Rodney Harrison's HGH on his scalp and therefore needs a haircut once a week. The Pats clearly spent too much time reading their own press clippings and not enough time getting ready for the game. They're the exact opposite of that team that beat the Rams. I guess they'll have to keep beating themselves.
