EA Sports, maker of the popular Madden NFL football video games, has conducted its official simulation of Super Bowl 46, and the Giants emerged a 27-24 victor.

607madden.jpgKicker Lawrence Tynes' field goal as time expired was the difference, according to a news release this morning. Giants QB Eli Manning was the game's MVP after a 25-for-39 passing performance.

The Madden simulation has been correct on six of the last eight Super Bowls, according to EA Sports, but one of the misses was the Giants' victory in Super Bowl 42 over the Patriots after the 2007 season. It also was not correct last season.

In this year's simulation, the Patriots fall behind 24-10 before QB Tom Brady rallies them into a tie at 24. The Patriots pull even on a 14-yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker.

The Super Bowl sim uses the video game platform and real-life statistical data on both teams, including adjustments for injuries. It has been used since Super Bowl 39, which the Patriots won both on the field and in the cyberworld.
