FOXBOROUGH -- According to a report on Scout.com, the Patriots have lost linebacker Prescott Burgess to the Baltimore Ravens, who have plucked Burgess off the New England practice squad.

Update (4:37 p.m.) -- A league source has now confirmed to the Globe that the Ravens have signed Prescott Burgess.

The Patriots acquired Burgess on Sept. 22 from the Ravens, who were going to waive him, for a conditional seventh-round pick. Burgess was then released from the Patriots' 53-man roster on Sept. 28 to make room for Terdell Sands. Burgess cleared waivers and was brought back to the Patriots practice squad.

The Ravens have a need at linebacker after Brendon Ayanbadejo said following the Patriots' 27-21 win over Baltimore on Sunday that he had suffered a torn quadriceps tendon while trying to make a tackle on Sammy Morris. Ayanbadejo said he'd need surgery.
