Tom Brady took the high road when answering a Joey Porter-related question after the game. Instead of talking about Porter not having a great game after talking all week , Brady flipped it and talked up his offensive line instead.
"That's a really tough group of guys," Brady said of his offensive line. "They're coached very well. They play hard. They have high expectations for themselves. It's a really a really great group of offensive linemen. They played great today.
"There weren't too many pressures or hits or anything like that, so I had a lot of time to sit back there and make the throws."
Brady also praised the play of Dan Connolly, who came in for injured center Dan Koppen in the first half and added to that solid protection.
"It's not the easiest thing to do when you lose your center. But he stepped in and did a great job. He's a really tough guy who's really prepared and took advantage of his opportunity."
"Yeah I probably cut it too close," said Brady. "That was not the smartest play in the world...We got fortunate that there was one second. We got lucky."
The fortunate timing allowed Stephen Gostkowski enough time to kick a 34-yard field goal that put the Patriots up 16-10 at the break.
