Final: Colts 35, Patriots 34

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Patriots don't have enough time to get the comeback. Colts win 35-34.


The Patriots go for it on fourth and 2 from the New England 28 and are stopped. The Colts turn around and take advantage with Peyton Manning finding Reggie Wayne in the end zone with 13 seconds left. The Colts now have a 1-point lead.

(Patriots 34, Colts 21)
Gostkowski's 36-yard field goal increases the Patriots lead with 4:12 left.

(Patriots 31, Colts 21, 12:14,4th quarter)
The Colts are trying to make up the difference as Manning just led his team down the field in 2:04 completing a 29-yard pass to Pierre Garcon for the touchdown with 12:14 left in the game.

(Patriots 31, Colts 14, 14:18,4th quarter)
Moss catches 5-yard touchdown pass from Brady with 14;18 left in the game. A 69-yard punt return by Wes Welker to end the third quarter set up the play.

(Patriots 24, Colts 14, 2:41,3rd quarter)
The second turnover in the end zone for the Patriots gives the Colts the ball at their own 20.Colts linebacker Philip Wheeler forced Maroney to fumble near the 1-yard line allowing Gary Brackett to recover it for the Patriots with 2;41 left in the quarter. Before the fumble, the Patriots were in the midst of 13-play drive that burned more than 9 minutes off the clock.

(Patriots 24, Colts 14, 10:32,3rd quarter)
Interceptions by both teams have stumped their respective offenses. A promising drive for the Patriots was snapped by Antoine Bethea's interception in the end zone. THe Patriots were on the Colts' 33 at the time of the play. On the next series, the Colts were moving downfield when Manning let go of a pass that was intercepted by Leigh Bodden at the Patriots' 24 with 10:32 left in the third quarter.

No lead is safe enough with Manning at quarterback. He just completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne to complete and 8-play, 80-yard drive with 4:17 left in the half.

The Patriots offense is looking impressive. Brady avoided a charging Robert Mathis and found Julian Edelman for the 9-yard touchdown waiting in the end zone.

When all else fails, just go deep. Brady launched a 63-yard pass that floated most of the way right to Moss, who reached around Antoine Bethea for the touchdown. Total time of the drive -- 53 seconds. Two plays, 75 yards.

Here is a look at the numbers from the first quarter. Brady completed 4 of 6 passes for 96 yards, his longest a 55-yard completion to Moss. Manning completed 8 of 11 passes for 105 yards and one touchdown.

Patriots kick field goal (Patriots 10, Colts 7, 13:15 2nd quarter),
Red zone troubles continue for the Patriots as they are forced to settle for Stephen Gostkowski's 31-yard field goal two minutes into the second quarter. On third and goal from the Indianapolis 4-yard line, Robert Mathis got by Nick Kaczur to create the 9-yard loss. The field goal capped an 11-play, 58-yard drive that took 4:52. Isaiah Stanback, who was signed to the 53-man roster yesterday, caught a 9-yard pass on the drive.

Patriots answer (Patriots 7, Colts 7 1st quarter)
Didn't take long for the Patriots silence the fans here at Lucas Oil Stadium. Laurence Maroney ran 1-yard for the touchdown with 4:47 left in the quarter to cap a 6-play, 73-yard drive. The big play of the drive came on a 55-yard completion to Randy Moss that carried the Patriots to the Colts 6-yard line.

Colts sparking flames (Patriots 0, Colts 7, 8:19 1st quarter)
The Colts strike first with Manning completing a screen pass to Joseph Addai, who sprinted 15 yards for the touchdown. The play happened four plays after officials ruled Wayne's catch was in bounds after the earlier challenge. Embers from the fireworks after the score landed on the field, causing Colts coaches to run out to the 50-yard line to stomp out the sparks. The Colts drove 90 yards on eight plays in 3 minutes and 23 seconds.

Colts speeding down the field (Patriots 0, Colts 0, 9:41 1st quarter)
There's a break in action here as the Patriots have challenged if Reggie Wayne was in bounds on an outstanding catch over his shoulder. Peyton Manning's throw couldn't have been in a better spot, and based on the replay, it appears Wayne was in bounds. We'll wait for the results ...
