Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski was named the AFC special teams player of the week Wednesday.

Gostkowski was 4-for-4 on field goal attempts (30, 38, 34 and 40 yards) in the Patriots' 27-17 victory over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also sent 3 of 6 kickoffs into the end zone, limiting the return possibilities by dangerous Dolphins return specialist Ted Ginn Jr.

Ginn was held to four returns and a 24.3 yard per return average.

Gostkowski has 94 career field goals and is fourth on the Patriots' career list. He is second in the NFL in scoring this season with 73 points.
