Personnel breakdown ...

Posted by Albert Breer November 8, 2009 03:16 PM

Here, quickly, is how the Patriots employed offensive personnel in the first half, with the caveat that they used "20" personnel on all nine plays of their half-ending drive ...

"11" personnel (1 back, 1 TE): 14 plays
"20" personnel (2 backs, 0 TE): 11 plays
"12" personnel (1 back, 2 TE): 9 plays
"10" personnel (1 back, 0 TE): 3 plays
"21" personnel (2 backs, 1 TE): 2 plays
"13" personnel (1 back, 3 TE): 1 play
"23" personnel (2 backs, 3 TE): 1 play
"22" personnel (2 backs, 2 TE): 1 play

A couple quick notes ... On a couple snaps, interior linemen came in as eligible receivers, I listed them where they lined up. So if Dan Connolly's at fullback, he's counted as a back. If he's at tight end, he's counted there. ... The Patriots settled into more three receiver sets after switching personnel wildly early -- In their first 11 plays, they employed seven different personnel groups.
