Quick hits
CHICAGO -- On my way to Indianapolis, here are some things that happened overnight while I was at a wedding in the suburbs ...
* Rookie WR Brandon Tate was placed on IR, after injuring his knee last Sunday against the Dolphins. Practice-squad QB Isaiah Stanback was promoted to the active roster. Stanback was drafted by the Cowboys as a receiver and a returner, so he could help in multiple capacities. Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Sam Aiken, Julian Edelman and Matthew Slater remain on the roster at receiver.
* Edelman was one of a couple players coming off injuries to make the trip, joining Matt Light and Dan Koppen. The possible availability of the latter two there could loom large with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis on the docket.
* RB Sammy Morris didn't travel, so the Patriots will go a bit thin in the backfield.
... OK, catching my flight, and I'll hit you guys back in Indy. In the meantime, enjoy the day's most impactful game. That's right, Steelers-Bengals is coming up.
