Quick hits on inactives
Since we knew five of these already, there might be some rehashing here. Let's go ...
1) Wheatley's chance: The second-round choice from the 2009 draft has been active just once (against the Falcons) this season, a pretty jarring indictment on someone the club invested a high pick in. He'll get another shot today, with draft classmate Jonathan Wilhite on the shelf. The Dolphins may lack the weapons on the perimeter to take advantage, but it'll be interesting to see if Wheatley or Kyle Arrington gets snaps as the fourth corner.
2) Test for Vollmer: Sebastian Vollmer gets his first real test today (the snow made a difference with Kyle Vanden Bosch, and Tampa's d-line is shaky), with Joey Porter likely to line up across from him on a pretty consistent basis. If the Patriots have to give Vollmer help, with either a tight end chipping or a back staying in, it could have an effect of New England's offensive approach.
3) Can Maroney man up?: Addressed this one before. This is a chance, once again, for Laurence Maroney to stake his claim to a role in the offense, with Sammy Morris expected back this month, and Fred Taylor possibly returning later on.
