FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots running back Laurence Maroney didn't hide the circumstances of his fumble against the Jaguars on Sunday. He simply called it "careless."

The first drive of the game for the Patriots ended with Maroney's fumble on the 1-yard line. He didn't play another snap the rest of the game.

"It was a bad fumble," Maroney said. "I can't point the finger at nobody but myself. I got careless on the goal line. Everything deserves a consequence and my punishment was sitting on the sideline the whole game."

It was the second time this season that Maroney fumbled in the red zone. His first fumble of the season came against the Colts. The three fumbles are the most in his career, but he would like another chance.

"It would be great to go out there," Maroney said. "I feel like I been running hard and I been playing great, just going out there and getting a second shot would definitley be great. No matter what happens, I'm rooting my team on for victory, and I'm going to be out there if they play me I"m going hard."
