With the playoffs set to start, Ty Warren's made a business move ... dismissing agent Vann McElroy and replacing him Kennard McGuire.

McGuire represents 2010 Pro Bowlers Brandon Marshall and Andre Gurode, and other big names like Torry Holt, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Orlando Pace, Shaun Rogers and Javon Walker. He's got a long history with the Patriots, too -- serving as agent to one of their Pro Bowlers, Vince Wilfork, as well as Shawn Springs and ex-Patriots Rosevelt Colvin and Bethel Johnson. Warren is already listed on McGuire's Web site as a client.

This is the second time in six months McElroy's been axed by a Patriot. Wes Welker switched to Athletes First, and lead agents David Dunn and Joby Branion, in July, joining teammate Brandon Meriweather in that group. Both Warren and Welker are signed to what would have to be termed as team-friendly deals.

Welker's contract calls for $18.1 million over five years, and expires just before his 31st birthday.  Warren's contract runs through the 2013 season, expiring just after his 33rd birthday, and is worth a max of $36 million, but was signed when he was 26.

In other news here, Nick Moore tweeted last night that he'll be joining the Patriots practice squad, a sign that the Patriots are readying to put Welker on IR. The 6-foot-4 Moore went to same Columbus, Ohio-area high school as ex-Patriot Andy Katzenmoyer and the first overall pick in the 1995 draft, Ki-Jana Carter. The ex-Toledo Rocket is the younger brother of Saints receiver Lance Moore. He spent the spring and summer with the Vikings, landing on their practice squad in September, before being cut at the end of that month.
