Kraft.bmpNFL Commissioner Roger Goodell just started a press conference at the Super Bowl XLIV media center, much of which, assuredly, will be spent countering the strong messages NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith sent yesterday.

On his way to the podium, Goodell stopped and chatted briefly with a familiar face: Patriots owner Bob Kraft.

Kraft is attending the press conference, and on his way in several Boston reporters tried to ask him some questions about the future of the team. He was asked if the Patriots can make it back to the Super Bowl (“I hope so,” he said) and how much of a priority signing Tom Brady to an extension will be.

Kraft’s answer remained the same – he reminded us that on this day eight years ago, the Patriots were celebrating their first Super Bowl championship with a parade on a cold day in Boston. As for those other issues, Kraft said there will “a time and a place” to address them. For now, he just wants to enjoy the Super Bowl week.

That’s absolutely fair. The answers that come out of that time and place will surely be interesting.
