In today's Globe, Monique's got details on how Brandon Meriweather is planning to use this offseason to build his game -- and using the negative to motivate him.

Well, we've got another log for the fire here.

The good folks at Pro Football Focus are putting together their all-division teams right now, and Meriweather, believe it or not, was left off the AFC East list. The two safeties: now-ex-Jet Kerry Rhodes and Buffalo enforcer George Wilson.

Gotta admit, I was a little surprised to see it, but the PFF guys generally are pretty strict in adhering to the numbers, and if that's what the computer spit out, then that's what the computer spit out. The good news here for Patriots fans is that Meriweather is recognizing his shortcomings.

“It’s more important to look at a loss,’’ Meriweather said. “In a win, everything went well, everything you were coached to do, nine times out of 10 you did it. We could do that every day in practice.

“I want to watch a game where the communication wasn’t that good and the focus wasn’t there. I want to watch games like that where we got mentally tired and we let some things up. I don’t want to watch the games where we led teams, 25-0, at halftime.’’

The guys who did make PFF's all-division team: QB Tom Brady, WR Wes Welker, G Stephen Neal, G Logan Mankins, NT Vince Wilfork, OLB Tully Banta-Cain, CB Leigh Bodden and K Stephen Gostkowski (Update 2:36 p.m.: left Welker, Gostkowski out on original post ... Just in the rush to get it up. Sorry about that.) One interesting figure PFF passed along was that the 34 drops that affected Brady's numbers were a league high.

And how about this for another notable omission: WR Randy Moss. Jets veteran Jerricho Cotchery was on the list over the Patriots star.
