One Patriot target gets away
As the Patriots get their own free agents in place (Kevin Faulk being the latest), one free agent from another team they'd pursued got away.
Rams tight end Daniel Fells, whom the Patriots hosted this week, has decided to stay in St. Louis, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Fells is primarily a blocker, at 272 pounds, and made four starts last year.
The 26-year-old, whom came into the league with the Falcons in 2006, was not tendered by the Rams, which put the would-be restricted free agent on the open market. New England also hosted veteran Alge Crumpler, who could move up the team's priority list as a result of this .
