But that doesn't mean there aren't a few guys that might be worth tendering an offer to, and it's worth your time to look at the guys who get the second-round tenders from their original teams. If the Patriots were to sign one of these guys, then they would surrender their assigned second-round pick, which happens to be the lowest of the three that they're now in possession of. And so you're looking for a name here?

Let's start with Packers DE Johnny Jolly. Not a huge name, I know, but a reliable, stout run-plugger who's still just 27 years old and could fill what's become a void with Richard Seymour's departure and the probability that Jarvis Green will follow him out the door.

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Packers plan to extend a second-round tender to Jolly, and the main reason he won't be given a higher offer is because of legal problems in his native Texas.

At 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds, it stands to reason that Jolly could easily become a starter at a 5-technique end opposite Ty Warren, and even fill it at the nose in spots. Now, the Patriots would have to reach a comfort level with Jolly's court case, and feel like he was in OK shape there, but judging by how the club values defensive linemen, and what this guy could bring you, I don't think it's out of the question that they would value him at a second-round level.
