Our pal Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports! is reporting tonight that Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended and word on how long will come down tomorrow or Tuesday.

This adds another layer of intrigue to the schedule release for Patriots.

We already know that receiver Santonio Holmes is ticketed for a four-game suspension at the start of the season, so whether or not the Jets will be on the schedule in the first month will be worth watching.

Just so happens that the Patriots are also slated to travel to Pittsburgh in 2010. So when word comes down on how long Roethlisberger will be suspended, it'll be interesting to see if the Patriots dodge having to play Big Ben.

If New England somehow gets early games against both the Jets and Pittsburgh, it could be a serious break for the club.
