There's plenty interesting about this year's very good (but let's not go overboard) draft class.

So let Bill Belichick give you another piece of intrigue.

"There are a lot of medical questions about players particularly at the top of the draft or players in some cases that I’m sure will be drafted high that didn’t even play football last year," the Patriots coach said.

"I think that’s a little bit unusual to have probably the number of players that will be first-round players, high second-round players – whatever it will be – that were out of football a year ago."

You can start with likely first overall pick Sam Bradford. No interest to the Patriots? Well, try the other three big names Belichick was likely referring to, all at positions of New England need: Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham, Arizona TE Rob Gronkowski, and Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant (his was a suspension, not an injury). And then, there are other cases, like that of Georgia Tech WR Demaryius Thomas, who broke his foot just prior to the combine, and hasn't been able to work out for teams.

Seeing as though Belichick brought it up in his predraft press conference, it's clear the coach has put a lot of thought into it. We'll see in a few days if he and his team are willing to take leaps of faith on any of these guys.
