bruschi-sox.jpgYesterday former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi was among those named to the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.

The defensive captain of New England's 50th Anniversary team, Bruschi is one of a dozen current and former athletes, doctors and chefs named to the council, which was announced during an event in Washington D.C.

President Obama has broadened the scope of the council to include a focus on healthy eating as well as active lifestyles.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees and former Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes the council co-chairs; others appointed include NASCAR star Carl Edwards, Olympic gold-medal winning sprinter Allyson Felix, tennis legend Billie Jean King and Dr. Ian Smith, frequently seen on television shows promoting healthy living.

Bruschi is back in New England today, hosting 54 kids for a football camp at Gillette Stadium.
