This year, things are a little different. Hoyer took reps with the first team in spots yesterday, and those are important, since they're fewer and farther between the closer you get to the season, but necessary to prepare for the worst case scenario.

"You’re rotating in anyways, so you just gotta be ready whenever," Hoyer said. "As a rookie, you’re not gonna get as many reps, so you just gotta be ready at a moment’s notice, so when you get in, you have to be able to take advantage of those opportunities."

Obviously, right now, it's about making all those snaps count for Hoyer, and all these days count.

The good news is he's putting the work in. He's put on weight, and cut down his body fat, and hopes to put on a fewer more pounds before training camp starts. After the season ended in January, he took two weeks off, then got right back to work.

He's taking it seriously, that's for sure. And we should get to see a lot more of him over the next few months.
