Shalise blogged on it last week, but I figured it was worth passing along again ... Patriots single-game tickets go on sale today at noon.

You can only get them at Ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (800)745-3000. Don't bother trying to go old school and driving down to Gillette Stadium to wait in line ... Because there will be no line. And that's because they won't be selling them down there.

These tickets -- a limited number set aside to be sold outside of season ticket packages -- generally sell out very quickly.

But I'll be very interested to see what happens today. Last year, there were 20 blackouts league-wide, up from nine in 2008, and there were tickets sitting there available for the Patriots-Ravens playoff game for much of the week leading up to the game, in addition to a ton being out there at a cut rate on the secondary market.

At the spring meeting in Dallas, Patriots owner Robert Kraft talked about the need to enhance the in-stadium experience for fans, as it related to having the Red Zone Channel beamed into league venues and the addition of gigantic new scoreboards in his own team's home.

Fact is, the in-home product (HDTV, NFL Sunday Ticket, etc.), has gotten so good that it's given fans every reason to avoid the traffic and the hassle of going to the stadium. So as the owners continue to enhance that on-the-couch experience, they have to keep improving what they're giving the patrons who are actually going to the game.

So I guess in midday today, we'll get a bit of an idea of how badly fans around here still want to make the trek down Route 1.
