One man's trash is another man's treasure?

Well, if the Jets really believed that to be the case with Adalius Thomas, on the street now for five months, they probably would've signed him a lot earlier than now. But with the loss of Calvin Pace for a month or more, New York has a need that Thomas, potentially, could fill.

So it seems now as if, so long as this guy gets whacked, the Jets can put in a couple of orders for the jerseys pictured. (Thanks, NFLShop.com!) Thomas told our own Shalise Manza Young yesterday that he spoke with Rex Ryan and is hopeful that the two ex-Ravens will reunite as Jets. He then told SI's Peter King that New York GM Mike Tannenbaum told his agent, Bus Cook, that it could happen, but likely not until after Week 1 when they could get him on a non-guaranteed deal.

That's obviously not ideal for Thomas. But the fit would be there. Thomas had his best years under Ryan in Baltimore, and Ryan needs a player who can come in quickly and, at the very least, be a stopgap, something AD can do with his intricate knowledge of that system. Signing Thomas would allow the Jets to rotate (and save the legs of) veterans Jason Taylor and Bryan Thomas, and it would give Thomas a chance to prove himself.

"I don't know if teams are scared off about me now or if I've been blackballed," Thomas told King. "I do think there are teams out there I'd be a good fit for -- the Jets especially."

In this scenario, Thomas would miss the Jets opener against the Ravens. But he'd be available for -- you got it -- the Patriots in Week 2. Which would bring another story line to a game week not hurting for them.
