The Patriots and receiver Torry Holt have reached an injury settlement, which essentially makes the injured veteran a free agent.
New England placed Holt, a seven-time Pro Bowler it signed in the offseason, on injured reserve with a knee injury Sunday. He will undergo surgery this week.
The move means that Holt is no longer a member of the Patriots, and sheds light on Bill Belichick’s Tuesday comment that he “didn’t think” Holt would stick around the team’s facility during his rehab from surgery to mentor the younger wideouts.
Holt is free to join another team later in the season when he’s healthy.
