Patriots linebacker Marques Murrell said he just got overheated toward the end of Patriots practice yesterday. That is why he was carted off the field as the Saints and Patriots wrapped up the last minutes of their afternoon session.

Murrell was back at practice today and participated in the first defensive series of the day. The incident was nothing to be alarmed by, he said.

As the Patriots prepare to take on the Saints in their first preseason game tomorrow, Murrell said he is looking forward to a chance to prove himself. He played three seasons with the Jets before signing with the Patriots earlier this year.

"Any preseason game is a great opportunity for any player and I think the same for myself to do good for the team and just show everybody I can play football here," Murrell said.

As Murrell hopes coaches keep an eye on him, he got a laugh out of being the target of a fan during practice yesterday. While Murrell rested on one knee during a drill, a fan heckled Murrell and asked if he "needed a chair."

"I heard him," Murrell said. "How could I miss it? I didn’t pay him no attention though. I can’t have no hard feelings with stuff like that. It comes with the game."

Murrell's teammate Pierre Woods came over and took a knee beside him at one point.

"He's a good teammate," Murrell said.
