Pats get top CBS team for Weeks 1, 2
The Patriots don't get a prime-time assignment until they visit Miami on Oct. 4, and they don't appear on "Sunday Night Football" until they go to Pittsburgh Nov. 14.
But that doesn't mean they've lost their national appeal.
CBS has released its assignments for Weeks 1-3 of the NFL season (still subject to change) and New England's first two games -- against the Bengals at home on Sept. 12 and at the Jets on Sept. 19 -- will be handled by the network's top pairing of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. The latter of those two is among Week 2's top matchups (Manning Bowl II, with the Giants visiting Indy, is that night).
The Week 3 draw for New England, for a home game against the Bills, is Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots.
