There was thunder in the area about half an hour before the Patriots were to take the field for their afternoon practice, and the team tried to practice outdoors as long as possible, but the thunder got closer, so practice was moved inside the Dana-Farber Fieldhouse, which limited the activity. A deluge soon followed.
The players were in shells and shorts (it was a "jog-through" as colleague Monique Walker termed it), and there were 13 players not participating. New to that list were cornerback Leigh Bodden and tackle Mark LeVoir; they joined the now-usual suspects - Matthew Slater, Jonathan Wilhite, Bret Lockett, Thomas Clayton, Terrence Johnson, Gary Guyton, Nick Kaczur, Myron Pryor, Ty Warren, Ron Brace and Mike Wright.
During special teams, there was work on onsides kicking, with always-energetic coach Scott O'Brien directing the players on how best to play them.
It appeared that Brian Hoyer took the majority of the snaps this afternoon; Tom Brady did participate, but it appeared that most of the starting offense was on the sidelines once practice was moved indoors.
Newly-signed Eric Ghiaciuc worked at center this morning and left guard this afternoon.
New England currently has planned two more practices for tomorrow.
