Logan Mankins has been missing from the Patriots facility for a little-less-than eight months, and there's no light at the end of the tunnel of his discontent.

But Mankins is hardly the first player to have an issue with the way New England conducts its business.

Mankins and his agent have expressed their displeasure about how the team has "lost" the player and were expecting the Patriots to send the roster exempt letter that the Chargers sent to their holdout players.

The response of Belichick and the team has been silent indifference. As much as the media tries, Belichick will not take the bait; he will not provide fodder for the player and the agent. His indifference, to players and agents, is maddening and worse than (Charger GM A.J.) Smith’s defiance.

Brandt then mentions quarterback Tom Brady, who is in the midst of the most important contract negotiation in team history, and the difference between he and Mankins.
