The Patriots filled their open roster spot by promoting guard Rich Ohrnberger off the practice squad.

Listed at 6 feet 2 inches, 300 pounds, Ohrnberger was a fourth-round draft pick last year out of Penn State. He was active for three games as a rookie during Stephen Neal's injury absence; he was among the Patriots' final cuts earlier this month and was quickly brought back to practice squad.

Known as a prankster -- he wore full-body camo to Matt Light's shootout two weeks ago, including spandex pants -- Ohrnberger got the news this morning that he was being promoted and was understandably excited.

Tackle Steve Maneri, released from the 53-man roster Monday, was brought back to practice squad. In addition, offensive lineman Thomas Austin, a rookie out of Auburn, was added to that eight-man roster.

Both rosters are currently full.
