My old colleagues at Sporting News have gathered once again to compile their annual Top 100 list of NFL players -- assembling a 99-man panel that includes 10 general managers and 15 former head coaches to vote on it.

Four Patriots made the cut. Quarterback Tom Brady is eighth, comebacking WR Wes Welker is 22nd, game-breaker Randy Moss is 33rd, and Vince Wilfork is 45th. Only the Vikings have more guys in the Top 50, though Minnesota (7), Baltimore (6), Pittsburgh (6), Indianapolis (5), and Dallas (5) all have more in the Top 100.

The biggest surprise here? I'd say it's Brady coming in eighth. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I saw the quarterback outside the Top 5 on one of these lists.

The seven in front of No. 12 (in order): Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Chris Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson, Andre Johnson and Darrelle Revis.
