The Patriots officially signed LB Shawn Crable to the 53-man roster today, filling out the vacancy left by RB Kevin Faulk being moved to season-ending injured reserve due to a torn ACL he suffered against the New York Jets last week.
Crable has been with the Patriots since was drafted by the team in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Michigan. But Crable has yet to make his NFL debut due to injuries. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound outside linebacker has been on injured reserve the last two seasons.
In 2008, he was inactive for the first eight games and then placed on injured reserve in November due to a shin injury. Last season, the Patriots moved Crable to injured reserve in September with a groin injury suffered during the preseason.
At Michigan, he had 16 sacks and 148 tackles in his career. In the 2007 season, he recorded 28.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage, which was a single-season record at Michigan.
