FOXBOROUGH _ As expected, Patriots safety Patrick Chung, who was spotted in the locker room hiking up his practice pants, returned to practice today.

Chung, who injured his knee in the second quarter and did not return for the remainder of last Sunday's 23-20 victory at San Diego, was among five players who did not participate in Wednesday's indoor practice session at the Dana-Farber Field House.

Chung was joined in today's practice by NT Vince Wilfork, who had a non-injury related absence from Wednesday' practice, and WR Matthew Slater (ankle), who was also injured against the Chargers.

According to the Globe's Shalise Manza Young, those who were not present for the media-access portion of today's practice in full pads on the upper grass fields behind Gillette Stadium included RB Fred Taylor (toe), S Jarrad Page (calf), and DT Mike Wright, who was absent from practice for the first time this week.
