FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots rookie cornerback Devin McCourty missed out on being named the league's rookie of the month for October, but that doesn't take away from his pretty impressive performance last month.

Detroit Lions tackle Ndamukong Suh was selected the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month after he collected 14 tackles, 4.5 sacks, an interception and returned a fumble 17 yards for a touchdown.

Hard to argue with numbers like that. McCourty was among the rookies considered for the honor. The first two interceptions of his NFL career came in October, including the one he grabbed against the Vikings last week.

McCourty has 34 total tackles this season, and the only time he missed a play this season is when he was shaken up on a hit against the Vikings last week. He came right back in after missing one play.

We will see how November turns out for the Patriots' first round pick.
