After winning Oct. 24 at New Orleans against Brees and the defending Super Bowl champion Saints, McCoy and the Cleveland Browns defeated Brady and the New England Patriots, 38-14, Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
“I don’t know if I can put that into words,” said McCoy, who went 14-of-19 for 174 yards against New England in his first career home start. He didn’t throw a touchdown, but McCoy wasn’t intercepted or sacked and finished the game with a 101.6 passer rating.
“I look up to those guys so much and I respect them so much.”
As he continued, McCoy made a self-explanatory statement about Brady that made the media laugh.
“I knew in this game that, you know, we’re playing against stinkin’ Tom Brady,” McCoy said. “They can score points whenever. I know our defense was playing great, but in my mind, it was like, OK let’s just keep playing. Don’t get too hyped. Let’s keep playing. They got a stellar quarterback over there. He’s real No. 12 right now.
“Just got to keep playing and keep understanding what your job is and that’s what I’ll continue to do.”
