During his weekly radio interview on WEEI's "Dennis & Callahan Show" this morning, Tom Brady addressed everything from his favorite Christmas gift as a kid to offensive lineman Dan Connolly's 71-yard kick return in last night's victory against the Green Bay Packers.
Here are some of the highlights, courtesy of WEEI.com.
Brady's thoughts on Connolly's return.
"He doesn't hold the ball very often," he said. "When he does, it's not like it's going to be the way BenJarvus [Green-Ellis] carries it. He's holding it however he can get those big hands around it. That was pretty funny when I saw him running down the field. You're right, I'll never forget that."
Brady said his initial reaction for Connolly was for the offensive lineman to "get down."
"I'm always saying, 'Just get down.' The way they do carry the ball, any slight contact can knock the ball out," Brady said. "I've seen that a bunch over the course of my career. You get a guy that doesn't handle it very often and it's tough for those guys to really know what to do with it. Danny picked it up, and once I saw him break to the outside, I was like, 'Goooo!' "
After the game, Brady said he had the chance to catch up with Connolly.
"I did see him after the game," Brady said. "He was like, 'Man, I wish I would have scored.' He goes, 'I was on the 4-yard line.' I said, 'Don't you worry about that. Don't start trying to come up with these ideas.' "
Over the years, Brady said he has grown used to playing football on Christmas even back in college, but he shared a few of his favorite Christmas moments which included get-togethers with his grandparents and aunts and cousins.
As far as his favorite gift?: "I wanted a BB gun, if you can imagine that. I'd shoot cans in the backyard. And I loved doing it. Once I got the BB gun, I was good," Brady said.
