A once-a-day look at a draft prospect that either has been targeted for the Patriots in a mock draft, has had a private workout for New England or has made an official visit to Gillette Stadium. In the end, mocks are good for discussion and workouts and interviews could be a smokescreen or a sign of real interest, but these are players who make sense as being on the Pats' radar for the upcoming draft.

Name: CB Buster Skrine, Tennessee-Chattanooga

Height, weight: 5-10, 186 pounds

Hometown: Woodstock, Ga. (Etowah HS)

Senior season stats: 10 games (8 starts); 39 total tackles (29 solo), 8 pass break-ups, 1 interception

Career stats: 42 games (30 starts); 155 total tackles (113 solo), 21 pass break-ups, 5 interceptions

Honors: two-time first-team All-Southern Conference

Combine: 40 dash - 4.48s, bench - 20 reps; vertical - 37 in.; broad jump - 10-2; 3-cone - 6.44s

Why he's a fit for the Pats: While New England has some depth at the outside corners, Skrine (pronounced "screen") could play slot and certainly has value as a kick returner (he averaged 20.6 yards per return as a junior but had only three returns last fall, all in the season opener, and suffered a dislocated elbow during one of them) and special-teams contributor. Skrine's Combine numbers were consistently among the best for corners, and he posted the best time in the three-cone drill, a drill the Patriots put value in.
