Patriots coach Bill Belichick opened training camp with a meeting with reporters today.

Topic No. 1 was, of course, the Patriots' reported acquisition of defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins, but Belichick declined to comment, saying the deal was in the works, but not final.

"We're in the process of (acquiring) Haynesworth, but that's not complete yet, so I can't really comment on that until it gets completed, if it does get completed," he said. "We'll talk about it when it's done."

Pressed on the issue, he said, "We'll talk about it when it's finished, if it's finished."

Belichick was scheduled to speak at 9 a.m. and the first practice was to be held at 9:30, but both were pushed back. The first practice, during which players will not wear pads, was scheduled for 10 a.m.

"We're just trying to get everything under way and a smooth flow here," Belichick said. "Just kind of taking it hour by hour."
