FOXBOROUGH -- Albert Haynesworth made an appearance at today's light practice watching the team run through a few plays, but he did not participate in any drills or conditioning runs.

Bill Belichick said after practice that Haynesworth remains "day to day."

"He's been day to day; He's still day to day," Belichick said. "When he's ready, he'll be out there."

One player who is ready to return to action is defensive lineman Shaun Ellis, who also watched practice today but did participate in the team sprints and stretches at the end. Belichick said Ellis is officially off of PUP and can begin practicing with the team.

Belichick added that he has not made a decision on if Ellis will play in Saturday's preseason game against Detroit.

Ellis said he is looking forward to getting back on the field, even though he didn't have to do much today.

"It felt good. Just being on the field and around teammates and moving around a little bit," Ellis said.

Haynesworth was not available for comment after practice.
