Good morning. Here is your PDB for Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011. It contains all the links, info, analysis and occasional humor that you'll need to go about your day. If you can't detect sarcasm or take yourself and/or football too seriously, this may not be your thing.

WHAT'S ON TAP

Today

- 1:30-4 p.m., Practice.

Tomorrow

- 10-11:15 a.m. (Open to the public. Please enter the Bank of America gate located on the west side of the Gillette Stadium)

NOTE: Today and tomorrow are the last two days for the Patriots Experience, which features bounce houses and the like for the kids. It's good fun, but it's almost over.

HEADLINES

- Another day, another eight big bodies walk into Patriots camp. Yesterday it was Andre Carter and Gerard Warren, with Shaun Ellis on the sidelines as he starts on the PUP list for a few days.

It's amazing the size the Patriots now have. And they're not just stiffs, either (the Patriots hope). Really interested to see what Bill Belichick does with this group. I don't think we'll see that for some time. Wouldn't be surprised if he held out some players, including Albert Haynesworth, for much if not all the exhibition games. It's all about the season.

- TE Rob Gronkowski, the offensive star of camp, left practice Monday under his own power. OL Dan Connolly and Chris Morris also had to bow out.
- For much more information on Monday's practice, check out The Rundown on lucky practice #13.

TO RECAP

- Shalise Manza Young takes a look at the defensive line situation. I think the Globe is going to need some bigger bodies to cover this group. I can't 13-gap by myself (though Shalise fights dirty and Monique Walker had pointy elbows). Calling in Alex Marvez, Brad Biggs, Ray Ratto, and Bill Williamson.
- Monique Walker has the notebook leading with what Ellis had to say about being with the Patriots and parting with the Jets.
- Posted the latest 90-man roster last night. No, it is not in any order besides the starters. Will have more on the state of the roster in the coming days.
- Chris Gasper and Shalise talk about the newest additions to the Patriots' roster in Training Camp Today.

Jets

- The Jets have put, ahem, veteran people like Derrick Mason, Plaxico Burress and Tom Moore around QB Mark Sanchez. At this point the only way the team could surround him with more experienced people would be if it landed Sanchez the starring role in a reprise of ""The Golden Girls.''
- Trying to wonder the last time an ex-player for any New York team said something along the lines of Ellis's quote yesterday about having respect for Rex Ryan but "I guess it's not mutual" and it being the last line in the lede to a notebook.
- I knew the New York Post wouldn't let me down: "Ellis had answer for Jets' low-ball offer."
- Jets should be wearing name tags that say "Hello my name is..."
- Sanchez compared the Jets' defense to the '85 Bears. This made me really laugh out loud yesterday, considering Sanchez was born 10 months after the Bears beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
- Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is feeling the heat after his offense flamed out in the past two AFC Championship games. Schottenheimer is a really good coach and will absolutely be a head coach very soon. But sometimes he overthinks his game plans. The 45-3 loss to the Patriots being a perfect example.
- Jets are hoping Jamaal Westerman can provide some punch to the pass rush. Don't know if he will, but I'll always give a Rutgers guy some pub.

Dolphins

- Ricky Williams' long and strange trip with the Dolphins came to an end when he signed with the Ravens. Witnessed a lot of his exploits first-hand down there. Has any player had such a strange tenure with one team?
- Like Dave Hyde writes, the thing that stands out most about Ricky were just the quirky conversations with him. You never knew what you'd end up discussing. One time Ricky talked about how he no longer ate anything with a face and explained his reasoning.
- LB A.J. Edds, CB Will Allen and DE Jared Odrick missed most of last season with injuries, but they're back now. Really interested to see what they can do, especially Odrick.
- Rookie CB Jimmy Wilson was once accused of murder.

Bills

- The defense is getting after the offense.

ELSEWHERE

- Like a lot of us, Jerry Rice wonders what could have been with Randy Moss.
- After visiting with the Patriots, S Dashon Goldson had to be humbled to return to the 49ers.
- Former Patriots fullback Heath Evans isn't sure what's next for him.
- Former Boston College lineman Gosder Cherilus put the pads on for the first time in eight months yesterday after knee surgery.
- Interesting quotes here from the Seahawks about the situation QB Tavraris Jackson is in with the Vikings.
