The Patriots have announced the release of safety Ross Ventrone.

An undrafted rookie last year, Ventrone spent the season on the practice squad; he is the younger brother of former Patriot and current Brown Ray Ventrone.

The team also announced that they claimed offensive lineman Mark Wetterer off waivers from the Bengals.
