mayo.jpgA quick glimpse at what Jerod Mayo had to say to the media today as the Patriots' defense, currently the worst in the league in total yards, tries to improve going into this weekend's matchup against the Raiders.

Things the defense can do better: Obviously, just getting off the field on third down, reducing penalties and getting more pressure on the quarterback. We have a lot of work to do, and hopefully it happens this week.

Giving up big plays: You just have to make plays on the ball. Big plays have been killing us. That’s one of the main priorities in practice this week. Stopping the big play and getting off the field.

Focusing on tackling: McFadden’s a great guy with the ball in his hands. Tackling will be an issue and we’ll be practicing that as well. Hopefully we can do good this week.

Pressure on the defense: I wouldn’t really say pressure. Sometimes, you can be disappointed in the things that we do, but at the same time you have to go back and watch the film and make corrections. It’s a unit. We’re a family on the defensive side of the ball. We know that and we’re practicing hard.
