The Patriots have agreed to contract terms with veteran guard Brian Waters.
The deal cannot be finalized until the Patriots make a corresponding roster move to make room for Waters on the roster. Waters was brought in for a workout Saturday.
If the deal is completed before the first game of the regular season, as it appears it will, Waters' contract will be fully guaranteed for the season.
The move is a positive one on several levels: by many accounts Waters still has plenty left in the tank, and he helps shore up the offensive line's biggest question mark, right guard. Waters will also be a great mentor to the younger players on the unit, like rookie Marcus Cannon.
ESPN was first to report an agreement had been reached.
