The Globe's Greg Bedard has confirmed via league source that CB Ras-I Dowling has a torn tendon in his leg, which led to his being placed on season-ending injured reserve by the team yesterday.

Dowling was hampered by a hamstring injury in training camp, but started the first two games of the year for the Patriots at right cornerback. He left the game against San Diego and had not played since.

He underwent an MRI within the past couple of days, which revealed the tear.
